Awaken Your Inner Leader: Transform Stress Develop Emotional Mastery and Thrive by Edita Atteck is a book that inspires, drives, motivates, and teaches readers the essentials of taking the lead in their lives. This book addresses the feelings of stress and the overwhelming burden of activity that cripples most of us. The author offers tools that allow readers to have clarity of thought, take control of their overriding emotions, and discover their purpose in a world that is filled with distractions. In the introduction, the author explains the purpose of this book. It is designed to help readers learn “how to transform the stress you have been feeling in your body, enabling you to build a road-map to thriving.”

Few books have something for everyone and this is one such book. It is as insightful as it is relevant and the author comes across as a professional in her field, using relevant questions to allow readers to increase self-awareness, redefine where they are and understand what they are feeling and why they feel it. She offers practical steps and suggestions on curbing stress, unlocking our inner energy and identifying our self-leadership skills. There is so much writing on leadership and quite often it is about leading others, but Edita Atteck asks the question that is less addressed in most of the books you’ll find on the subject: How can you lead others when you can’t lead yourself?

Awaken Your Inner Leader: Transform Stress Develop Emotional Mastery and Thrive is revolutionary, a book filled with wisdom and insight. The author uses examples from real life experiences and diagrams to reinforce her message. Anyone who works in today's busy and fast-paced work environment needs to read this book. It will bring you back home to yourself. I enjoyed the excellent prose, the confident and irresistible voice, but above all, I loved the message of this book. It proposes a path to inner freedom that is accessible to everyone.

Awaken Your Inner Leader is a non fiction self help book by author Edita Atteck, self described as a means to ‘Transform Stress Develop Emotional Mastery and Thrive’. It is designed for busy professionals searching for more in their lives, and more within themselves to become more confident people. For those suffering from their stressful existence with pain, lack of sleep and worries plaguing them, Edita Atteck offers a comprehensive guidebook filled with practical exercises that you can put into action to help develop the confident leader within you. The book’s claim is that not only does this help in the workplace with work and relationships, but that working on this concept provides comfort in all areas of life, relieving stress and emotional turmoil along the way.

I really loved the conceptual ideas of this book, and I think that positive, inward thinking books like these can really help people to transform as individuals instead of looking to others for satisfaction. Edita Atteck is clearly very aware of the powerful effect which nerves have on the human body, and how to reverse the damage done to the nervous system by taking care of both body and mind. The exercises themselves increase in difficulty but are all easy to develop from small steps, and I believe this is a method which could genuinely help those who follow it. Overall, Awaken Your Inner Leader would provide fantastic advice to people who want to succeed in life but are struggling with stress from their occupations. A recommend read!

Awaken Your Inner Leader: Transform Stress Develop Emotional Mastery and Thrive by Edita Atteck is a non-fiction self-help book that details ways to recognize and deal with stress in our modern world. Awaken Your Inner Leader is written as a guide for people, especially in North America, who are bound in the rat race of their careers and professional lives while trying to manage their personal lives, and the resulting stress that comes with this lifestyle. Edita has divided the book into a few broad sections, each with its own individual chapters that go through defining what stress is at a physical and emotional level, the “operating system” of our body and system, what an emotion or feeling is and how it is formed, developing emotional literacy and learning how to become aware of and manage one’s emotions, developing self-leadership or self-mastery with the aid of various techniques, etc. There are questions listed at the end of each chapter for self-reflection, along with a list of references and resources at the end of the book.

Awaken Your Inner Leader is a handy guide for anyone feeling overwhelmed or dissatisfied with their busy professional and personal lives. This is true of North America and the book is geared towards this audience. I liked that Edita has explained and analyzed such concepts as what an emotion is, the different types of emotions and if they are useful or not under certain conditions. The writing style is fast paced and the book length is just right for a topic of this kind. It is obvious that Edita feels strongly about the subject and has a genuine passion for it. Overall, this is a helpful guide towards understanding and minimizing stress.
