Bachelor At Her Bidding by Kate Hardy is the story of Ryan Henderson and Rachel Cassidy. Ryan is roped into being auctioned off for charity, even though he really doesn’t want to date. Ryan has come back to Marietta to help care for his aging grandmother. Dr. Rachel Cassidy has returned home to Marietta after a marriage gone bad, and she definitely isn’t in the market for a relationship. But anything can happen at a bachelor auction when a gourmet cooked meal is offered along with hunky eye candy. Kate Hardy does a wonderful job illustrating the chemistry between Ryan and Rachel, as well as their reluctance to act on it. That’s part of what makes this story so special because you truly believe Ryan and Rachel have no interest in romantic entanglements, they aren’t just paying lip service.
Bachelor At Her Bidding is a great small town romance filled with great characters. Both Ryan and Rachel have pretty disgusting exes that have tainted their views on love and commitment. Their budding friendship quickly morphs into a casual affair that burns hot and bright. What I liked most about this story from Kate Hardy is that you can actually see the friendship that develops despite their wicked hot chemistry! They seem to like each other as much as they want each other, making this story more enjoyable and romantic. Add in a sexy chef with a bunch of Parisian recipes and you have a story that is ripe for tension and steamy love scenes. And who can resist a guy who brings his A game to apologize?
