Historical romance fans will love Cathy Maxwell's "Because of You!" Samantha has lived alone in the vicarage for the past year ever since her father passed away. However, a new vicar and his wife are ready to move in and Samantha has no family and nowhere to go. Suddenly one night a mysterious stranger arrives at her door demanding to be let into a vault as he claims to be close to the family and when he becomes ill, Samantha finds herself in a compromising situation with this stranger Martin. Samantha is often called upon to help tend the ill, but when she needs help for herself she realizes very few are willing to help her. Samantha accepts her fate of marrying a man she knows little about and before she and Martin are able to leave town, Martin's true identity is revealed. Martin is actually Yale, the disinherited son of a duke. This begins a journey of meeting Yale's family and finding Samantha being a part of a family and getting to know each other and to understand who they actually are instead of how they had been perceived.
I started this book one night with the thought of just reading a chapter, but before I knew it I was halfway through the book! Maxwell drew me into the story on the very first page and kept me hooked until the end. This is not just a love story about two people; this is a story of two people meeting under false pretenses, falling in love and having to get to know each other for who they are as well as dealing with family issues. The minor characters were all well-developed and I enjoyed reading about them as well and they played such vital roles in the story! I highly recommend this well-written love story for historical romance fans!
