Beelzebub: The Gift of Gluttony is a work of fiction in the paranormal romance and fantasy subgenres, and it forms part of the Sinful Seven novel series. It is intended for mature adult readers owing to explicit sexual content and language as well as some references to graphic violence and behaviors relating to harassment. Penned by author duo JC Brown and L Lane, the plot revolves around the battle for the soul of a young woman named Clara. A gifted empath with a kind heart, Clara thinks she’s been approached by an angel, only to discover it is a demon prince in disguise, looking to claim her for the sin of gluttony. As trouble brews, the war in Hell itself grows larger around them both.
Author team JC Brown and L Lane work together beautifully to deliver a fluid and harmoniously told story about the dual nature that lies within us all, battling against the desire to sin. With this spicy concept underpinning the whole story, it’s no wonder the action in Beelzebub heats up swiftly and doesn’t let up until the final pages of its climactic conclusions. A particular aspect that I absolutely loved in this work was the use of dialogue, which quickly gets you into the dark, wry humor of Hell and its vibrant cast of characters. This was fabulously juxtaposed against Clara and her bright spirit. Her journey of exploration and finding freedom was intriguing and exciting to see unfold. Overall, I’d definitely recommend Beelzebub: The Gift of Gluttony to paranormal romance fans everywhere.
