Behind the Hospital by Phindiwe C. Nkosi is a heart rending confessional journey of the author in the direction of healing. It's a theme that resonates with many of us. Hope and healing are two powerful emotions that can break a lot of negativity within us. The inner journey of the writer is uplifting for all readers.
I found the book gripping. Healing is a very inspirational topic. It is something that can change the direction of your thoughts and life from the negative to positive and it requires a lot of mental strength. You feel the presence of God throughout this book. It is also the reaffirmation of the author's faith.
The elegant language contributes to the strength of the book. The language is minimalist, bare, and stark which reflects the subconscious mind and the core of his thoughts. Everyone has their battles to fight and personal issues to resolve. This book also reveals the author's personal battles and finally God's intervention and how the author is guided onto the path of healing.
The author mentions that 'everyone has something to overcome.' It is an honest comment. The nothingness and emptiness within the soul are captured well and form an integral part of the story. We all have demons that at times cause much torment within us. The chapters on personal reflection are inspiring and educative. They actually make you ponder about the emotions that rage within you.
