Behind the Lace is a story of Cinderella before she meets her handsome prince, when there was a stepmother of her own. Cinderella tells of her life and family growing up, and it’s definitely not what we would think. Cinderella is not the innocent young girl we all imagine. The stepmother, Aveline, is not the wicked stepmother we have all read about. She is a sweet lady who loves her children and will do anything she can for them. But then a horrible situation happened in her life that scared her for good. Aveline lived a really heart-wrenching life, and her journey through life is a very sad one. The horrific situations this lady had to endure would leave a trail of hurts and scars for anyone, and she dealt with her feelings here the best way she knew how.
H. A. Lamb gives readers a new take on the Cinderella Story we have all grown up with and love so well. This is a really interesting and intriguing story. For the first time since I first heard Cinderella, my heart goes out to this lady that I always thought of as the wicked stepmother. I loved the story, the characters were well developed, and the plot was pretty fast paced, making this a quick read. I really enjoyed the twists and turns in this story, making it an entertaining read. The book cover is beautiful, and the title fits the story. I would have never connected this book with anything to do with Cinderella.
