Flutterpie liked helping others; she was strong-minded and spread kindness with her charm. Flutterpie was friends with Squeaky the caterpillar. Squeaky was timid, joyful, and she loved sports. Squeaky and Flutterpie spent a lot of time together. There was this annoying grasshopper, Hexa, who loved to bully both Flutterpie and Squeaky. Squeaky wanted to know how to remain calm when someone bothered them. Flutterpie told her how she was introduced to Yoga that helped her balance her mind, body, and heart, and how practicing Yoga helped her stay bully-proof and stress-proof. She invited Squeaky to join her every Saturday at the park when she practiced. Flutterpie explained to Squeaky about Yoga and showed her how to do the poses starting with Namaste, the Indian way of greeting respectfully. They decided to invite Hexa for a Yoga session and told him it would be fun. Would Hexa join them? Would he enjoy doing Yoga?
Being Calm: Flutterpie's Yoga Adventures and Mindful Mantras by Navnish K. Khera and Parinaaz Kaur Khera is an uplifting and insightful story that will guide readers on how to stay calm, deal with difficult situations, and handle their emotions well. The illustrations by Pardeep Mehra are colorful and bright, give clarity to the concept, and make the characters tangible for young readers. The mindful mantras are the best way positive affirmations can be introduced to readers. Being Calm is also a good way to introduce children to yoga and the questions at the end of the story help parents and tutors to initiate a discussion with children on the subject. Being Calm is a good book for home and school libraries.
