From high employee turnover to inter-departmental friction, there are many ways a business can fall into crisis mode. To run a successful business that continues to thrive, a leader must ensure their team consistently executes at a high level. In Beyond The Hammer, Brian Gottlieb will teach you how to do just that. The book opens with a fictional story about a construction company owner called George. George inherited the company from his highly successful father but struggles to run it until he meets Marty. Marty introduces George to the five pillars of leadership, and slowly George learns to fix the company culture. In the second half, you will learn about the different ways to activate belief, mission, and vision statements, using marketing to develop culture, fostering a culture of authenticity, communication during training, showing personal accountability, and more.

Brian Gottlieb is a successful entrepreneur who founded a business that grew over time to attain annual sales of over $150 million. In Beyond The Hammer, Gottlieb draws from his experiences and the knowledge he has acquired over the years to offer readers an all-in-one practical guide to leadership and management. Using storytelling and examples, the author takes you through the five pillars of leadership, delving into each of them in depth. George's story is really absorbing, as it hooks you into the narrative, and you slowly begin to understand the concepts Gottlieb is trying to relay to the reader. Overall, I found the book very informative and inspirational. If you're a leader or a manager in any capacity in your work or business, this is the book for you.
