Billy Makes a New Friend! by Ayala Saar is a delightful book for children which discusses the concept of sharing. Billy is a little boy who loves his toy trains. One afternoon, his mother's friend comes with her son Chris. Billy did not allow Chris to play with any of his toys and gave him a ball to play with. Soon Chris got bored playing with the ball. The next time when Billy visits Chris, the latter lets him play with all his toys. Will Billy let Chris play with his toy trains the next time he visits him?
It's a beautiful story that teaches kids about making friends and sharing. Written in rhyming verses, the story is very motivational and uplifting. The pictures are colorful and they give pace and movement to the scenes and the characters. The illustrations also give clarity to what the author is trying to convey.The book can be used a good bedtime story book and is also good for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. The valuable lessons of friendship and sharing that the author imparts through this adorable story is very effective for young readers.
Most children have a problem with sharing when it comes to their toys and things. This book gently approaches that topic and encourages all kids to share their toys with their friends. Billy and Chris and their friendship will remain in readers' minds for a long time.
