While working on a vacant apartment, Jax touched a wall that had a large hole, and it instantly mended itself upon contact. Cedrik, a vampire, presents Jax with an opportunity to embrace a new existence as a vampire and take on an important role in his guild. Jax is tasked with becoming the Engineer Sorcerer, responsible for inventing, building, and repairing items for the guild's benefit. Jax has a deep interest in all things magical and has a natural talent for problem-solving. Amelia, the guild leader, convenes a meeting after receiving a call from Mayor Shukiro regarding an evacuation of the city due to gruesome deaths. The guild stands to earn a generous payout if it accepts the mission to eliminate the threat.
Blood Born by Jerry Hunter Oliveira Jr. is complex and fascinating. The story is fast-paced with nonstop action that keeps you engaged. The storyline is filled with murder, magic, mystery, and danger, and it had me hooked from beginning to end. I was drawn in by the captivating writing style, which held my attention throughout. Some of the scenes were graphic and vividly portrayed, leaving little to the imagination. The characters felt authentic and relatable. Jax discovered where he truly belonged and was unafraid to challenge authority for the sake of the guild. The plot was skillfully crafted and executed. I could not turn the pages quickly enough to find out what would happen next. I was consistently satisfied with the unfolding events and struggled to set the book down.
