Bobbit Rock: A Psychological Horror Novel by Joseph Landing, Jr. is the story of a man who believes he brought misfortune to himself and the rest of the people in the city. Isaac Murphy is a homicide detective, born outside of Callahan, South Carolina, who lost his parents at an early age. His only solace was Emily and her love. So, he holds on to it with all his might. However, fate has other plans for Isaac. Years pass by, and he loses Emily in the blink of an eye. But that is not it. Things become suspicious when more people start turning up dead in the city, and there is no apparent reason behind the deaths. While the logical way to solve the murders is to find the culprit, Isaac knows in his heart that he is the man who started this chain reaction years ago when he climbed Bobbit Rock and freed the Wretched Man. Can Isaac stop this terrifying being from claiming more lives?
Bobbit Rock opens with a confession that marks the beginning of the unrelenting action that adds purpose to the story. The descriptions are gory, they made my stomach turn at times, but they also made the story real. Isaac’s character is authentic, and his desperation to reclaim his life is believable. He slowly loses his mind and his grip on reality, but he keeps on fighting. Dr. Adam Brady proves to be the voice of reason, something that grounds Isaac in reality and makes him see things in a better light. His development is phenomenal, and it truly drives the story forward. Bobbit Rock by Joseph Landing, Jr. offers a perfect mixture of horror with a psychological thriller theme to bring create something far too fascinating to ignore! Perfect for Halloween, perfect for any day!
