Karen Henrich’s book, Brave Like Me, brings young readers into the lives of four tight-knit woodland pals named Benny Bear, Remy Raccoon, Ruby Rabbit, and Mabel Mouse on a frosty winter morning. Suddenly, their quiet morning gets disrupted when a strange, dark figure pops up at the crest of a snowy hill, leaving the friends feeling very curious about its origin but also afraid. Since they aren’t sure what to expect, each animal decides to venture up the steep, icy path, one at a time, to check out the mysterious shape. However, because each friend makes the climb completely alone, they all head back to the forest with different and contradictory descriptions of the creature. When the woodland friends see that their individual accounts do not match up at all, they have to figure out how to deal with this confusing mystery. Will the four companions find a way to get past their own fears and uncover the truth together?
