The author suggests that understanding your own unique abilities and interests is a starting point for career planning. Following that, the acquisition of knowledge is paramount to becoming a successful entrepreneur. The virtue of tenacity would be valuable at this stage.
When attempting to develop a career direction, the author suggests that training and education should be coupled with what one would expect to earn, and with types of job prospects which are set in reality, rather than in wishful thinking. Following this period of training, the job search begins. The author stresses that disappointments should be expected, and that tenacity will generally win out in the end.
The premise of the book is based on the belief that over 90 percent of those looking for a job do not plan careers in any systematic manner. Thus he has developed a systems approach to finding the right career. This book would best fit into the college classroom, in which vocational training and career direction are studied. It is a bit dry for the layperson, although valuable reading for those stuck in the quagmire of career indecision.
