At the heart of Neighbor Feud by Annika Champenois is Keisha Johansson, a single mother of five, and Jordan Taylor, her widowed, grumpy next-door neighbor with four kids. For three years, they have been on each other's throats, trying to outdo and enrage each other with hilarious pranks, outrageous practical jokes, and spirited bickering. Until one of Keisha’s pranks has Jordan offering a peace flag. Keisha is skeptical at first, but agrees to a truce in an attempt to set a better example for her children. What follows next is uncharted territory: Keisha sees Jordan’s gentle, fatherly side, but Keisha is determined to guard her heart. For Jordan, loving another woman seems like a betrayal of his late wife. How can both families adjust to peace and a blossoming relationship with God, especially when their children have other plans?

No review can truly capture the magic of this book; you just have to read it yourself. Neighbor Feud is funny, chaotic, and unexpectedly deep. Annika Champenois uses a mood-lifting Christian romance, rooted deeply in faith in God and strong family ties, to speak on domestic abuse and the challenges of single parenthood. Abuse often has far-reaching consequences, as seen in how June is forced to grow up quickly to protect her siblings and mother. The Taylor family is no better off; grappling with the loss of their mother, they resort to hanging out with the wrong crowd, drugs, and skipping school. The children are more than a handful, with each of the nine having their unique personalities and quirks, all adding to the brouhaha. Neighbor Feud by Annika Champenois is a suburban romantic comedy that takes neighborhood tension into a full-blown, laugh-out-loud war.
