EDD Jordan's Christmas Coal: The Adventures of Filbert & Evie relates the story of numerous dogs who are rescued. One day, many canines arrived at a rescue center terrified and disoriented, with little hope of future possibilities. A tiny black dog was the most shy, yet he had so much love in his heart. As time passed, his friends started getting adopted, and he became increasingly lonely and abandoned. Christmas Eve finally arrived, but this small ball of fur was left alone. When a friendly-looking couple came to the rescue facility, he did not want to be overly optimistic. Will he finally be able to find the devoted family that he deserves, or will he face another disappointment? Discover this lonely puppy's inspiring story of hope and devotion.
Christmas Coal: The Adventures of Filbert and Evie takes readers on Coal's compelling journey to find the true meaning of family. I had an instant connection with Coal and hoped for his adoption as soon as possible. I liked how this book encourages you to go to a dog rescue and adopt a puppy, as it is so typical nowadays to simply go to a pet store and buy one. Dog rescuers do an excellent job of finding loving homes for abandoned animals, and EDD Jordan gives them the credit they deserve. I particularly enjoyed the message at the conclusion, which states that every dog, no matter how different, deserves a home full of love. I highly recommend this book to any parent who wishes to foster a love for animals in their children.
