Forget glass slippers, a ball, and a maid who never says no—Cindy Aurela: A Cinderella Story by Leah Miles swaps them for hiking boots, rainstorms, and a protagonist who learns that sometimes getting lost is the best way to find yourself. Cindy works behind the scenes in the demanding world of television production, juggling impossible tasks and an even more impossible boss. When she’s sent on a corporate retreat deep in the Oregon wilderness, far from wi-fi and deadlines, she expects nothing but discomfort. What she finds instead is a challenge that tests her independence, resilience, and self-confidence. Among the pine trees and campfire smoke, she crosses paths with Ethan Carson, a former Navy mechanic who’s more comfortable fixing engines than handling city crowds. As the retreat unfolds, Cindy learns to rediscover what truly matters—friendship, courage, and the quiet magic that comes from letting her guard down.

Cindy Aurela by Leah Miles is an uplifting and fun read that made me smile more than once. I loved Cindy’s down-to-earth personality and how relatable her struggles felt. The romance develops naturally and never feels forced, which made me root for her happiness even more. Miles’s writing is sharp, witty, and vivid—I could practically feel the chill of the mountain air and smell the campfire as I read. I also appreciated how the author balanced humor with heartfelt moments, showing that real transformation comes from self-respect and inner strength, not fairy dust. The dialogue flowed effortlessly, and the supporting characters added just the right mix of comedy and charm. The story reminded me that sometimes stepping into the unknown leads us right to where we belong. This clever reimagining of the classic Cinderella features warmth, lightheartedness, and a modern twist.
