Claimed is the first novel in The Skyborne Legacy by Cheney Leigh Scott. Violet Templeton has never been a person you would consider popular. She is nerdy and a little different than other people and she is okay with that. However, that all changes when she meets Ben McCloud, a hot man so out of her league that she cannot imagine why he would be interested in her. But one kiss has her fate sealed and now she realizes that things are not as they seem. Circumstances lead her to run with a perpetual stranger (regardless of how hot he is) and learn that she is the true mate to a Prince of the Skyborne race that has sworn to protect humans from every danger that lurks in the dark. But she has her own destiny to unlock, one that can change not only her life but that of everyone else. Will she take the plunge? Can she believe in fate?
This was a quick yet entertaining novel to read. The pace was fast, but nothing was hurried or left incomplete. I got the full experience in a little over 100 pages. The characters were bold, confident and very intelligent. Violet knew something was up from the beginning and went with her gut feeling. She didn’t shy away from her responsibility and when she knew that Ben was meant to be hers, she didn’t let him go. The chemistry between Ben and Violet was amazing; they had a spark from the beginning and they explored reluctantly at first, but they did it. This is a great start to a series that has the potential to be something big for romance and supernatural genre fans! Entertaining and exciting.
