Code 47 To BREV Force: Cracko is a work of science fiction and fantasy penned by author F Barish-Stern, and marks the first book in the series of the same name. This installment sees the technology-obsessed world taken by storm when a supervirus called CONTROLLER begins to bleed out and take control of the real world. Our central heroes are young adult twins Brad and Evie Kane, who are starting college with the expectations of their brilliant parents weighing heavily on their shoulders. When CONTROLLER begins to play tricks on their family and take over the minds of their friends, the twins must band together to crack the code and form a more powerful force than the one they’re up against.
Young adult and older middle grade readers are certain to get the most out of this exciting adventure novel, not least for its technological mayhem but also for the coming of age tale that the central characters experience, and the strong themes of how family relationships work and the different dynamics and damage which can happen within a family unit. Author F Barish-Stern develops her characters deeply for this emotional purpose, but also allows them their flaws and the chance to grow and learn new skills as the novel progresses. CONTROLLER presents an interesting antagonist to the plot, creating many exciting plot twists for the reader to experience. Overall, Code 47 To BREV Force: Cracko is a warm-hearted work with a solid adventure tale and a meaningful message at its core.
