Meet Damien. On the surface, he’s a quiet, clever accountant. Beneath that cover, he’s still a messed up kid trying to come to grips with a past he doesn’t want to face, and from which his only relief is setting fires. When he sets off a massive and very destructive fire, he flees but his flight is interrupted when he gets a flat tire and is brutally assaulted and left for dead. His salvation, if it can be called that, along with an answer to his most deeply rooted psychological issues, comes via the rich and enigmatic Garrett, a shaman to his legion of followers. They live in a secret compound where people trying to escape their pasts take refuge and cultivate powerful, even poisonous plants, where fierce forest animals appear and disappear, and strange healings, along with deaths occur. Has Damien found hell or the perfect hideaway, and a friend in Garrett who seems to have a particular fondness for him? Read Completion to find out.
The plot, the characters, the setting of Completion by Andréa Fehsenfeld are all perfect…for a movie. That’s not surprising, given that the author is a successful TV producer and writer with a passion for photography, all of which is reflected in the style in which Completion is written: its pace is fast, with lots of dialogue and constant scene changes. It’s almost impossible to read without seeing everything happening on a screen while you hold your breath, wondering just what is going on and what will happen next…all of which becomes clear only when Andréa Fehsenfeld decides it’s time. The result? Completion is a suspense-filled read that will appeal to those who are intrigued by the bizarre, voodoo and the occult. Sound like your kind of book? Andréa Fehsenfeld goes out of her way to keep readers hanging onto every word, every turn of the page. Far be it for me to spoil your enjoyment of reading Completion for yourself. But leave the light on.
