Whoa! That was the main thought I had after I finished reading Cryptic Spaces, Book Two: The Eight Queens by author Deen Ferrell. This imaginative wild ride of a novel follows Willoughby, our protagonist, on his quest to find his friends, T.K. and Antonio, save another, James Arthur, from a witch, and find out what the ultimate end game of the Demon Beelzebub really is, and how to stop that from coming to fruition. In this fantastical thriller, our hero is thrown around the world, from the Andes to Russia to Jordan and even to the Bermuda triangle, all in the hopes of saving the lives of those he cares about and himself.
Deen Ferrell’s newest novel is a creative and enthralling work of fiction. He draws his characters and environments with such vivid descriptions that at times I felt I was actually there. The action is pretty much nonstop, so don’t think this is a book that you’ll be able to put down and come back to later. You’ll be on the edge of your seat and hungry to find out how it ends. While there were a few parts in which I was a bit confused, that was probably because I had not read the first book in this series and didn’t always have the characters' backgrounds straight. However, this in no way impacted my overall enjoyment of this book, and only made me want to go back and read the predecessor to Cryptic Spaces, Book Two: The Eight Queens. Any lover of sci-fi or fantasy would enjoy this book, and I highly recommend you give this series a chance.
