The first thing that caught my attention as I started reading this book was the wonderful prose and the author’s storytelling skills. Right from the beginning the author plunges the reader into a stream of consciousness that is executed with awesome mastery, underpinning the author’s perceptive style and insightful narrative. The story is emotionally charged and readers can’t breathe as they follow the characters through nonstop action. The setting features images and places that are beautifully described; there are colorful images that will stay with readers after they are done reading. The conflict drives the plot and creates a lot of excitement in the reader. Deen Ferrell is a master storyteller and Cryptic Spaces: Dark Edge Rising is a great story, balanced and deftly executed.
