In Curiously Gracie: Life Begins by R. S. Christopher, six brand-new Westie puppies were born and decorated with colorful bows so it was easier to tell them apart. One pup was endlessly curious about everything around her. She loved to explore her area and even snuck outdoors into the fresh air. She loved bouncing around in the grass and sleeping under the grill. The day finally came when a woman wanted to find a Westie to add to her family. Who would she choose? Would she want one of the calmer puppies quietly sleeping or nursing? Or would she want one that was adventurous and curious? Would one of the puppies find their forever home, or would the young woman change her mind?
Curiously Gracie: Life Begins is an adorable story about the beginning of life for six little puppies. I love how the Westies behave differently, even though they are from the same litter. In this story, R. S. Christopher weaves through the importance of happy, healthy puppies who want nothing more than to find the forever home meant for them. The illustrations are well done and beautiful and help tell the story with visually entertaining imagery. I recommend this story to young children who are ready to start reading, especially kids who love animals with unique personalities. I absolutely loved Life Begins and hope that this author writes more stories about Gracie and the other Westies so that kids can learn more about the pets they love.
