Dancing In Doggy Heaven, written by Ash Gilpin and illustrated by Masha Klot, is the story of a young boy and his blossoming relationship with his puppy Dexter. The tale spins along through the companionship the boy discovers as Dexter grows from a young and energetic pup to a frolicking and sometimes mischievous dog. Dexter finds lots of interesting things to play with even as he ages into his doggy golden years and leaves his fun loving legacy in the heart of the confused young boy. How can the young boy ever understand how to cope as the time comes to let his furry best friend go.

Dancing In Doggy Heaven by Ash Gilpin has a wonderful plot that any child can identify with as the boy and pup quickly become best friends. The characters are fun loving and entertaining as the colorful and awesome illustrations by Masha Klot beautifully embellish the activities the boy and dog embark on. I loved everything about Dancing In Doggy Heaven. Ash Gilpin and Masha Klot send a positive message to children that will help them cope with the life, love and loss of their individual pets. Dancing In Doggy Heaven is by far one of the best children’s stories I have read on the subject as the message kids receive will definitely resound throughout their lives as they cope with love and loss as teenagers and adults.

Discussing death with a child is one of the hardest things to do, so I would wholeheartedly recommend Dancing In Doggy Heaven to anyone who has children in their lives to help with that particularly difficult task. There is no doubt that this wonderful story will some day find its way into many homes and libraries where it can be enjoyed for many years to come.
