For a brilliant intelligence analyst, a forced vacation can feel like a life sentence. In Dangerous Decisions by Evie Jacobs, Angie certainly feels like she’s in jail when she’s forced to take a month-long leave from her high-stakes job. She’s been a workaholic since her teens and has long grappled with guilt over a mistake she believes may have led to an informant’s death. As she tries to uncover the truth, she puts herself in a dangerous situation. In addition to dealing with her guilt, she realizes her life is becoming a “screensaver” that’s repetitive and without purpose. Cue Nate, another key character, who’s also got some thinking to do. He has been dealing with a big family revelation, while also trying to figure out his growing attraction to Angie. She, too, feels something for him, but doesn’t know how to handle it. The story weaves together the mystery of her past, a new romance, and a gripping race to uncover the truth.
Have you ever read a book that perfectly balances a thrilling mystery with a tender romance? That’s exactly what I found in Evie Jacobs’s Dangerous Decisions. From the very first page, I was hooked. I could feel and relate to Angie’s frustration and the weight of the guilt she carries over a professional mistake, which I think is something everyone can relate to. I was surprised by how her journey to discover the truth becomes a path to self-discovery, showing how she’s flawed like the rest of us. She is also navigating a blossoming romance with Nate. Their connection adds a fascinating layer to the mystery, making you root not just for her, but also for him. I found myself wanting her to solve the case and find happiness. It's a reminder that even when you think you’ve made the worst decision of your life, the most unexpected moments can lead you exactly where you’re meant to be.
