Dark Sky Full of Stars by Roman Schreiber is a fascinating, insightful, and wildly dynamic M/M romance where characters on the edge are the rule rather than the exception. Boy #1 (Mischa) meets Boy #2 (Austen) and is instantly smitten – the only obstacle is that Boy #2 perceives himself to be straight and in a committed relationship with the kind of girl one would expect a devastatingly handsome, well-to-do, and charming young man to go for. Add to the mix the fact that Austen has a twin brother who watchdogs his every move, Mischa has seven brothers, each of whom has expectations and cultural/familial obligations they are eager to see him uphold, and an unexpected side trip to Australia, proving that Mischa is as relentless in his pursuit of Austen as Austen is coy about warming up to the idea of surrendering to Austen.
The characters are varied, quirky, and compelling; the dialogue is inventive and fresh, the plot twists are always surprising, and the descriptive passages detailing Mischa and Austen’s romantic journey are spicy enough to set readers’ hearts racing and romantic enough to make them swoon. Perhaps the most fun of all is that Mischa, always the more experienced and forward of the two lovers, is never without one more emotional or sexual prize to thirst after as Austen blossoms into his full awakening. Their dynamic is irresistible. Roman Schreiber’s Dark Sky Full of Stars is a fast-paced, completely absorbing, and utterly satisfying M/M romantic adventure sure to satisfy all interests.
