Drawn To You: A Novella (Taking Chances Book 3) is a wonderful stand alone in an existing series which I haven't read, but will definitely be picking up. It follows Sam Koo, an amazing art teacher who is scattered in all other aspects of her life. She's usually able to sweet talk her way out of the bad things in life, but suddenly everything is crashing down around her, and no amount of batting her eyelashes will fix this. Her bad luck seems to go from bad to 'are you freaking kidding me' when she is pulled over for an expired registration and is brought face to face with her arch nemesis/major love interest from high school, Lucas Choi. The reader has to sort of sit back and watch the action, and you can't help but wonder if the explosions are from the fireworks going off between them or the missiles that the two of them are launching at each other's heads.
Liwen Ho did the remarkable; she wrote a novella that I couldn't help but wish was a full length read, because I was absolutely not ready to part ways with Sam and Lucas. I love the opposites attract angle, and you can't get any more opposite than a rule breaker and a law enforcement officer. You will be laughing, groaning, rolling your eyes, pulling at your hair, swooning just a bit, and falling in love with these characters as they carefully work they way around the past and into the future. I highly recommend this read.
