Author Biography

I have always pictured myself as a writer. I started writing poetry at age twelve in order to release some built up emotions. But in the eleventh grade, I took a creative writing class and excelled in my writing with the help of my teacher, Mrs. Fletcher. After graduation, I won an essay contest and received the opportunity to interview the Atlanta Braves. “After this experience, I knew I was destined to be a writer.

"Dreams . . . of an Undying Heart" is written by Rachelle S. Gallman. This book is unique with a creative poetic and Faith Genre, while remaining Family oriented and age appropriate for a preteen to adult readers, especially those looking for guidance through others and their faith. The Author chose to write in a free verse style bringing her poetry to a more conversational level compared to the popular, traditional poetry writing styles. The author allows her readers to view different aspects of her life by simply reading and turning each page. The poetry within this author's book offers the reader a change to explore emotions of all kinds, situations of hardship and joy, and devotion to faith.

As an avid reader of poetry and dabbling here and there with the writing myself, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the works of this author. Having the knowledge of poetry writings I understand how hard it is to express one's emotions on paper to complete strangers in hopes to have them understand the true meaning behind the words. This is why I respect the author's choice to write in a free verse writing style. As I read her poems I felt as though she was speaking to me in a direct conversation. I felt connected to her through each poem. I found myself thinking about different situations I have been in that related to each poetic entry, and asking myself could I have handled it in such a way described on the page. The author states within her poetry that being faithful to the Lord throughout her struggles with emotions, and experiences had been the most helpful to her. Through her writings she encourages turning to a person's faith for guidance. The author did an excellent job getting her message of faith out. More people of faith should be as honest, and publicly devoted as she.
