Dumplings and Dynamite by Shanna Hatfield is the latest in her sensational Baker City Brides series. It is Deputy Seth Harter’s turn to shine. Going undercover, he takes on the role of a powder monkey working with dynamite at the Crescent Creek Mine not far from Baker City. Under investigation after reports of multiple accidents that have occurred in the mine, some resulting in the loss of miners’ lives, Seth is determined to get to the bottom of the mysterious happenings. Little did he know, he was not the only one there looking for answers. Hollin Hughes is determined to discover the truth behind her late husband’s tragic accident at Crescent Creek Mine where he had been working. As tensions rise and the risk of being discovered grows, they must make difficult choices and find out who to trust before another accident results in more lives lost. Can these two remain undercover and unnoticed long enough to find the truth behind the growing number of incidents surrounding the Crescent Creek Mine?
Seth and Hollin make a great team, and I loved seeing them in this story, from their sassy and humorous banter to their quick thinking and impressive teamwork. I also loved meeting some of Seth’s friends around Baker City along the way. Filled with laughs, friendship, a sweet romance, and plenty of danger, I could not get enough of Dumplings and Dynamite by Shanna Hatfield. I knew I would enjoy reading their story from early on, yet I was pleasantly surprised to find that Dumplings and Dynamite kept me up late into the night reading and laughing along with the characters and their hilarious antics as their story unfolded.
