Eddie’s Grave by Antonio Biggio is a breathtaking political thriller. The events unfold in London in 1984. The USA and the Soviet Union, the world’s two nuclear superpowers, are at political loggerheads amid the Cold War. The CIA and the KGB are competing fiercely for classified nuclear research documents lost by Russian intelligence. The Brotherhood, a London-based religious sect, is rumored to have these documents hidden in London. Rebecca Ward, a CIA Special Agent in London, asks Andrew Briggs, an Inspector with the London Metropolitan Police, to help her find them. Andrew lost his friend and his fiancée in a confrontation with The Brotherhood and does not feel up to fieldwork. Will Andrew help Rebecca to beat the KGB?

Eddie’s Grave by Antonio Biggio is the sequel to Eddie Must Die! but I enjoyed reading the sequel first. I was intrigued by the suspenseful and action-packed plot, the intricate reverse chronology, the dynamic shifts of perspectives and places where the events unfold, and the multitude of threads making up the storyline. The deft psychological portrayal made the characters highly relatable in their strengths, vulnerabilities, thoughts, and actions. My main takeaway from this exhilarating thriller was Iron Maiden which I am delighted to have discovered for myself following Andrew’s and Rebecca’s passion for this iconic band. I highly recommend this brilliant story to political thriller and adventure fans and look forward to my reunion with Andrew Briggs in the prequel.
