In book one of the promising new series, The Aeternae Noctis series, author Jade Kerrion introduces us to the world of Eternal Night. Set a thousand years in the future, humans now live perpetually in the city of the Eternal Night. Not so peacefully existing with vampires and the Icrathari, five-year-old human children are culled by the vampires each night when there is a full moon. Khiarra, the child prophesied to be the one to finally end the Eternal Night, is also due to be culled. Her half-brother, Jaden, has promised to protect her. On his quest to do just that, he is discovered by Ashara, the Queen of the Icrathari. When Ashara also finds that Jaden holds the soul of her beloved Rohkeus within him, Rohkeus who has been gone from her for a millennium, a mortal/immortal attraction ensues, putting all that both Ashara and Jaden hold dear at risk.
Wow! That’s about all I can say after all of that. Eternal Night is a unique and fantastic read and a heck of a wild ride. Jade Kerrion’s inventive novel is truly the height of creativity. I very much enjoyed this book, and would recommend it highly to any reader who loves fantasy, science fiction, or just a very good read with lots of world building and character creation. The book is very involved and best read in one sitting so that you won’t forget all of the details. I am very much looking forward to the next installment in this exciting new series, and hope the author is hard at work as I write!
