Exile (Bloodforge Book 1) by Tom Stacey is a young adult epic fantasy that begins with two young boys discovering a strange altar, buried deep in a mountain. They awaken a terrible creature that descends upon the Verian empire, which is weak from a war within itself. The bloody rebellion left few heroes within the nation, at a time when Empron Illis wiped out his remaining enemies. With alien creatures imitating humans within the kingdom of Veria, it is hard to know who is on what side. But a not so simple woodsman hides in the woods, waiting for the right moment to return when the heroes are gone and he is needed the most. He is Beccorban the Helhammer, Scourge, Burner, and the Death of Nations. He lives to fight and will bring fury and fighting wherever he goes. Will the Echoes, an ancient race of humanoids, be able to recapture their homeland? Or is the land of Veria already doomed?

This is an epic fantasy that is full of guts and glory. It is a book replete with epic fight scenes and bloody clashes. Readers that love fighting, battle scenes, and gore will love this story. It is action packed and is well-written by an author who obviously has a huge passion for this genre. Fans of this type of epic tale will immediately fall in love with its warriors, and root for the barbaric fighting that continues throughout most of this story.
