Exploratory Tales: A Novel by Laura Clementz is the story of two people as they fight a battle within to find the answers they desperately need. All her life, Mikita was groomed to take over after her father and become a spiritual leader for her village. She was not sure if she was the right person for the role. To learn more, she went on a journey to find the answer and a direction to follow. On the other hand, Gareth just could not get over the death of his wife. He had everything he could ever wish for, but he could not let go of the past to enjoy the present. When Mikita's and Gareth’s paths collide, they find the answers they need and get much more than just that. Can they guide each other? Or is peace not an option for them?
I loved each chapter and the progress of Exploratory Tales. I was expecting this story to be just a little too magical to be taken seriously. However, this story was refreshing, incredibly detailed, and paced just right to keep my attention until the end. I could write a whole thesis on this novel and still not say everything I want to say about it. Telling the story from both Mikita's and Gareth’s points of view was a great decision. I loved the final chapter and enjoyed the little glimpse of their future the author shared. It was incredibly sweet yet so fitting of Gareth and Mikita. The descriptions were realistic, the premise was unique, and the overall feel of the story was comforting. A perfect feel-good story! I loved it!
