Cara has suffered the tragic loss of her husband and she isn’t jumping back into love again. Ever. Instead, Cara has dedicated herself to a new relationship: her business. Cara’s Kitchen will be her new marriage and she is just about ready with her recipes perfected; all she needs is to finish the remodel on the perfect rock house. But one morning she arrives to see that someone has made a muddy mess of the yard and she is none too pleased. From the moment she meets Morgan, though, sparks fly. At first they are of the angry variety, but the attraction is there…if only they were ready for it. In Faint Heart, author Lizzie Ashworth offers up a great story of two people doing their best to fight an attraction that cannot be denied. They try hard to quell the attraction but it won’t be so easy and their journey was entertaining and endearing.
Lizzie Ashworth presents us with two incredible characters; the widow Cara who isn’t willing to go through the pain she suffered at her husband’s death and Morgan who plainly doesn’t believe in love. It was amusing to watch them fight their feelings, and at times Morgan was a big fat jerk which was off-putting, but it did allow him to grow into a hero worthy of Cara’s love. His baggage was heavy and I’m glad Cara didn’t simply fall back into his arms without explanation. Like in any great love story, she made him work for it and it made the story so much more appealing. Her strength proved that Faint Heart isn’t your typical romance; it is so much more than that and it left me with the warm and fuzzies long before the end.
