The recipes are accompanied by wonderful snippets of Italian culture that relate to celebrations and family gatherings, including the games played and drinks that also feature in the cuisine. The dishes are authentic, sometimes tracing the original ways the courses were prepared as well as the specific part of Italy in which they originated. Desserts prepared throughout fall are included too, and they add to the beautiful array of foods.
