Can you imagine a dog that has been racing all of his life being dropped into the middle of the Brooks family in a busy neighborhood? This is just what happened to Comet, a retired racing Greyhound. Running has been his life and running is what he does, but is there enough room in his new neighborhood to run like Comet wants to? And what is Comet to do now that he is free to run and not race? But then there is the very large and very strong Alaskan Malamute named Igloo, and the wise old-timer Rodrigo de Santana, the Spanish cat who will be more than happy to give Comet all the wisdom he needs to live in this community. Join the fun as you journey with these three adventurous creatures, along with Patty Brooks and her friends, as they discover big city life.

You will find yourself laughing and very well entertained as you read this wonderful book about this special, retired racing Greyhound. I so much enjoyed reading about the ups and downs of their journey as they met their challenges along the way. Comet finds out how different big city living is from everyday racing. I laughed a lot during this book as I read the happy as well as the dangerous times these animals lived through. Any child will love this story, those old enough to read it, and those small enough to listen as the book is read to them. This would be an awesome book for any elementary classroom of all ages. And I can just imaging the interaction of the kids as they talk about Fast Dog-Cool Cat-Hot Dog and A Time For Action by Arnold Haber.
