Fired Up by Anna Durand is a romance novel that would appeal most to an audience of mature young adults and adults who enjoy firefighter romances, and who do not mind explicit sex scenes and explicit language. Adam Caras is a firefighter known as the Arsonist, due to the number of his sexual exploits, yet he has harbored a secret love for his best friend for the past two years. Mel Thompson was turned off sex and romance after her cheating ex humiliated her, yet too much champagne on her birthday may just change her feelings towards sex and romance. Does Mel have the strength to open her heart back up to her best friend Adam or will she remain forever alone and loveless?
Fired Up by Anna Durand turned out to be quite the hot romance story with a real plot and well-developed characters. This is not one of those purely erotic novels, but instead the story of two best friends who have feelings for the other, and who decide to risk it all for the chance of a strong loving relationship. I loved the fact that Mel and Adam were friends before they were lovers as it made their romance feel much more real and not like those fake, 'love at first sight' stories. The author was tasteful in her writing of the sex scenes and she did not allow them to overshadow the rest of the story. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this novel and I would love to read more about Mel and Adam in the future!
