Rob Maaddi composed an inspirational testimonial in Football Faith. He took fifty-two NFL stars' statements of faith, and compiled them into one volume. Football Faith will motivate not only football fans, but anyone desiring to be uplifted and encouraged to be all that they can be. It encourages you to take the God given talents bestowed upon you, and use them to the glory of God. Each player or coach shares a meaningful scripture and how they personally apply it to their life. They then follow up with a brief testimony regarding their faith. These NFL athletes impart stories about their successes and failures. Jared Allen states, “Football is what we do, but it’s not who we are. It’s our relationship with God that defines us.” At the end of every chapter, Maaddi includes career stats, a brief biography and “extra points” information about the player.
I love football. I have been a fan all my life. So as the 2015 NFL preseason is in full swing, it did not surprise me to be drawn to Rob Maaddi’s Football Faith. First of all the book cover was very enticing. Once I opened the pages, I was immediately drawn to the photography - clear action shots depicting great hits, kicks, throws and receptions. I was hooked before I read one word. As I began reading, I was inspired and moved by their commitment to God, the Word and their teammates. On Sundays they will not be sitting in a pew, depending on a minister to encourage them. No, they are on the playing field. Therefore, to keep their faith alive and growing, they devote themselves to personal and group Bible studies and prayer throughout the week. They not only keep themselves physically fit, but spiritually fit as well. These phenomenal sportsmen put God first. Their goal is to make disciples on and off the field. They stand on their platform of success, to influence and give back to their communities by organizing special programs and charitable events. This book will remain in my library; it will be quoted from and read again and again.
