For the Love of a Child by Jenny Twist is a collection of five short stories that really get to the heart of what it means to be a mother. Instead of sticking to one vibe, the book jumps around—some stories feel very modern, while others have a more historical or even slightly mystical feel. But the one thing that never changes is that intense, maternal drive to protect a child at all costs. You see it in a high-speed chase through a busy market, but also in those quiet, heavy moments of sacrifice. Jenny Twist captures those raw instincts in a way that feels very real and grounded. It’s a short read, but it definitely packs a punch.

I actually found myself getting pretty emotional reading For the Love of a Child by Jenny Twist. Being a mom, I live with that fierce protective streak every day, so seeing it play out in these different scenarios really hit home for me. I loved how the characters felt like actual women dealing with impossible stakes—I was genuinely holding my breath during the more tense parts. The pacing is great too; the stories move quickly but still leave you with a lot to think about. It’s the kind of collection that stays in your mind long after you've finished. Jenny Twist just really gets it—she captures that desperate, deep-down love in a way that felt so honest and easy for me to connect with. Very highly recommended!
