From Tears to Triumph: My Journey to The House of Hope by Linda M. Bello-Ruiz is a heart wrenching memoir that depicts the life of the author transforming from that of despair to hope. Nineteen-year-old Linda's life changes as she meets a stranger in the summer of 1970 on her way back home from work. She hooks up with the wrong person and finds herself part of a controversial religious community. But from there, she finds herself following her heart and moving to Costa Rica and becoming an advocate for underage prostitutes and street girls. Her story of despair, hope, faith, courage and triumph is indeed motivational.
The book is a compelling read. From the streets of San Francisco, to the religious cult, to Costa Rica, the story is one woman's personal journey of tragedy, despair and finally triumph, which makes the read very inspirational and entertaining. Linda M. Bello-Ruiz’s difficult journey, the tough decisions she takes that shape her life, and her brushes with fate keep readers glued to the book till the very end. The memoir also speaks about the writer's strong faith and belief in God during the darkest moments, which is also instrumental in helping her see the light. It is a well written memoir. The emotions, experiences, people and places add to the charm of the book. A soul searching and compassionate story.
