The book “Fun in the Mud” is an adorable book about sharing with friends created in a very clever way. It seems that Pig had found a wonderful mud hole and Goat and Rooster want to join in. Pig was swish splash, he was having a blast! They wanted to dive in and play in the mud with Pig. But, Pig was convinced he found the mud first and so wasn’t sure it was time for his friends to immediately join in his fun. After contemplating a bit he makes his decision. What will it be? Does Pig become a bully, or does he want to keep his friendship with Goat and Rooster? The rendering of the story in verse is an added specialty not found in many books today.
The illustrations by Dave Chegg are colorful and very “happily” done. They complement the story beautifully and kids will fall in love with the animal friends. The Question and Big Word explanation at the end of the book will be a great exercise for school age children. It becomes a great review after the story. This was a fun short story that will capture the hearts of children of any age teaching the lesson of sharing between friends. “Fun in the Mud” needs two thumbs up! This is a fun and colorful picture book with a positive message kids will cherish for years to come!
