Gemini Ascending: Eternal Twins is a series debut by Mark John Terranova. Marked as a thriller, this mentally engaging read spans many other genres, from its historical aspects to action/adventure, and with a good dose of spirituality and philosophy thrown in. The story features the twins of its title, one who has watched the world grow for hundreds of years – James Montgomery – and another who is only just awakening to the reality of his existence - John Parella. John has always been far from normal, with odd paranormal abilities and vivid thoughts interrupting his day-to-day life. When the mysterious Doctor Junger draws this pair together, the answers to all John’s questions are within reach, and so is a far more enthralling consequence than John or James could imagine.
Mark John Terranova has produced a sophisticated and philosophical read that will not suit all tastes, but the more I persevered with getting the initial concept, the more enjoyment I had from the read overall. The plot is deeply involved and well researched, particularly for the philosophy which John Parella Snr. lives by and teaches to his son, and the various locations in which the novel takes place were vividly painted with truly beautiful language. Gemini Ascending: Eternal Twins creates its own legends which reflect some elements of other religions and belief systems, but are suitably complex and developed enough to be a system of their own. If you think you’re ready for a fully depicted world that requires deep scrutiny, then you’ll be rewarded by the novel’s thought-provoking conclusion.
