Get a Life! Delilah Blue by author Gail Hudson is a wonderful tale of a middle-aged woman coming to terms with the heartaches in her life, and finally putting them to rest instead of letting fear and memories control her. Delilah has never stayed in one place long after losing her younger brother and then the love of her life in accidents. As soon as it starts getting comfortable, or something resembling a relationship starts, she gets on her bike and runs. When her mom passes away, she finally returns home to her father, but he can tell she has itchy feet so he makes a drastic plan: they are going to the Isle of Man. Dylan has bought land there and he is going to build a life there. Lucky for him, Delilah loves the area and is willing to try, but she never imagines it will be a staying plan. Karma has other plans for Delilah and it comes in the form of friends, family, and love, all things that she thought had passed her by.

While Get a Life! Delilah Blue might be the story of a woman finding her place in the world, it is also a story of letting go of the past and moving on, forgiving yourself, and accepting a second chance. Delilah is not the only one to get a second chance; a host of side characters in the story and side plots play out to make the story that much richer. Author Gail Hudson has woven the main story and several side stories into one tale that leaves the reader believing in second chances and that everyone deserves love. Even though the main character is middle-aged, there are side plots involving younger and older folks, making the story relatable for readers of all ages. This was a feel-good story: while there was a tragedy, someone overcame it and got a second chance that led to an amazing life. It was a perfect 'curl up on a rainy day' kind of read, and the teaser at the end of the book - that the story of this large "family" on the Isle of Man is to continue into a second book - just makes it even better!
