Reading like (extended) haiku, God Has Infinite Frequency: Aphorisms for Our Fractured Age is written by Jonathan Masters who studied with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and illustrated by several of his photographs, as well as by the artwork of Anna U. Davis and fine artist Jeri Felix, among others. It is a celebration of life in all its infinite possibilities. The colorful, full-page illustrations are bound up with the text in such a way as to render the whole an interchange of meaning directed at drawing readers’ attention to the insights shared by both. A spiritually uplifting and enhancing book, God Has Infinite Frequency strives to enlighten those of us seeking a meaningful way forward by finding and exploring our own divinity. The whole book is dedicated to ensuring that we are able to maximize our own potential by attaining spiritual health and wellness through mindful practice.

For anyone who is keen on exploring their innermost being and essential godliness, God Has Infinite Frequency is a profound work whose wisdom can only have been accessed through many hours of deep and intuitive soul-searching and reflection. Treating such themes as (self-)love, spiritual vulnerability, and our essential oneness with each other and with the entire cosmos of nature, Jonathan Masters brings age-old yogic practices and mental fluidity up-to-date and highly relevant to the current environment. Although readers who come from a relatively traditional Christian background might find themselves at odds with the text in places, as a number of the aphorisms in this work vary somewhat in meaning from the literal contents of certain biblical verses, if you adopt an open mind to the whole, you should find such differences stimulating and likely to lead to much debate. As such, this book could be used in focus groups to catalyze discussion of certain aspects of cooperative living that we all face today. In short, the work holds much promise for the observant and discerning thinker and is well worth acquiring for both personal and group use.

The intent of God has Infinite Frequency: Aphorisms for Our Fractured Age by Jonathan Masters is to look at, and sometimes challenge, some of our deeply held beliefs. Masters wants us to explore our convictions and feelings. The book is mystical in nature, both in its text and the accompanying graphics. The name of the publisher—the Foundation for Inner Peace—tells a lot about what Masters hopes to accomplish with his book. He wants to “touch the core of who we are” and to “find the destination is more of ourselves.” Although Masters works as a business consultant, it’s his spiritual side that comes through in his book. His book could be summed up with this: “It is often hard to recognize that our primary relationship is with ourselves.”

Some of God has Infinite Frequency: Aphorisms for Our Fractured Age by Jonathan Masters consists of pithy sayings, such as “To change the world, change your mind first” and “If you want to find out who we are, listen to the Earth.” Other parts of the book consist of good advice for our world, such as the wisdom of not mixing religion and politics. The artwork and photographs are an important part of this book. Some are Dali-style art and some are photographs of nature. Both types help tell the story. Numerous artists and photographers—too many to name here—contributed. One aspect that some readers may not care for is that some of the text is sideways on pages.

God Has Infinite Frequency: Aphorisms for Our Fractured Age by Jonathan Masters is a short book on one of the literary genres that date from the time of the ancient sages. Masters’ collection is a colorful blend of visual art and intelligible thoughts—microforms where every word bears weight. He invites you to experience meditative reading, where you think of yourself as a pond, with smooth water reflecting the calming surroundings. In essence, read, breathe, relax, and connect. In a journey to self-discovery, Masters distills the purest form of an interesting idea that draws your mind onward. If you visualize yourself as a pond and a pebble is thrown at you, you feel the waves emanating from the plop. Think of each of these aphorisms as a pebble that penetrates a shallow surface to go deeper into more fundamental truths.

As an aphorist, Masters’ work leans on the spiritual aspect of the human condition. God plays an essential role in the psychological and social effects of his aphoristic lines. Their emotional appeal is broadened by the characteristic visual art that complements the perspective. Aphorism as an art form in itself is tragically understudied, and I am thankful for works like God Has Infinite Frequency. In a time where we are being drowned by different noises coming from all corners, reading passages that give value to brevity becomes more crucial than ever. Read this book to help filter out the noise in your life. Read it to understand if you truly need to search for what you believe is missing, because sometimes, a little aphoristic reading is all you need.
