Going Home by Cissy Hunt is an enthralling book about Matilda Grover Bennett, better known as Tilly in the story. In the beginning, Tilly is at the worst point of her life, having been rejected cruelly by her husband, Winston. Tilly goes through a heart-wrenching divorce from which she believes she may never recover. Anna, her sister-in-law, thinks differently and becomes vital in Tilly’s journey of faith. Then there is Daniel, the supportive, kind, and gentle long lost friend who is in love with Tilly. Will she be able to open up her heart to love and trust again? In Going Home, Cissy Hunt builds a story on the themes of faith, hope, forgiveness, friendship, growth, and restoration. From her background of helping women who have been through domestic abuse, Cissy Hunt’s passion is evident throughout the book.

While reading Going Home by Cissy Hunt, I couldn’t help appreciating the emotional suspense and the gripping twists the story takes. What starts as an almost ordinary story takes different turns that I could not have anticipated at the beginning. I also really liked the relationship between Tilly and Anna and how their friendship gave strength to both of them. It reminded me of what Christianity is all about, being each other’s pillars and holding each other when life becomes unbearable. The country setting of the story was a plus for me. It gave me a sense of tranquility and nostalgia. The book was not only intriguing but inspirational. Any woman going through a rough patch in her marriage, especially divorce, will find hope in reading Going Home by Cissy Hunt.
