Gemma Hart is not your average teenager. Beautiful, powerful, and hiding a secret life, she is known around school as a freak. And for the most part, Gemma is okay with that. She and her family are time-travelers, going back in time to try to improve history. Gemma must guard this information with her life, so she cannot become close to anyone at school. Being an outcast is preferable to leaking the family secret and getting her loved ones hurt. But then, Gemma begins talking to Harrison Granger, her long-pined-after crush, and everything changes. Gemma wants him badly, and it doesn't help that Harrison is incredibly interested in her. And when Harrison sees Gemma disappear, she has no choice but to involve him in her life. Gemma must work to maintain a relationship with Harrison while keeping its knowledge from her parents. However, she begins to wonder if she can even trust her parents at all ...

"Golden Blood" is an exciting and passionate story for young adults. It is a nice find for anyone seeking an action and romance mix, as neither is neglected in this story. However, like all time-travel stories, more astute readers will be asking about loose ends and paradoxes. How will saving multiple people from death several centuries ago affect those now facing their thousands of descendants in the present? But most readers will be able to overlook those issues and enjoy the great trials in the story. Overall, it is a thrilling book that will be enjoyed across genres.
