What do you do when your reputation as a matchmaker is challenged after a dissatisfied customer rejected every woman sent to him? Grass Valley Brides: A Sweet Historical Romance Set in Grass Valley, Oregon by Shanna Hatfield is the third book in her Regional Romance series. Cara Cargill is a deep believer in love. She had a whirlwind romance once, but now she is a young widow who longs for other women to find their love match. She is meticulous in pairing up her women with desirable men who have the same interests. Tagg Thompson refuses to wed just any woman sent to him. He pairs off every woman Cara sends to him with another man in his town. He has a knack for knowing who would make a good wife for whom, even if that man isn't looking for a wife. Finally, Cara takes the long trip to meet Tagg Thompson and settle her curiosity about this infuriating man.
I found Grass Valley Brides humorous, yet mysterious. Shanna Hatfield skillfully weaves secrets about the characters that slowly combine into an addictive reading encounter. Mail-order brides have a measure of danger and thrill as the women find themselves at the mercy of those who arrange a marriage. The rejected brides quickly add up, but the author's creativity in matching up the couples continues increasing to the climax when Cara meets Tagg. The reader will find the characters' development rich in imagery and depth. With a riveting storyline and plenty of sparks between the couples, you will thoroughly enjoy reading this novel.
