Greeth by Charles Lafave is more of a dark fantasy than an urban fantasy. The story is about a wizard named Peter Buraku, or he was until he was punished. He had a gift for creating life, and when he did something terrible, he lost his right to be a wizard. For eight years he lived in poverty, working jobs that held no interest for him, and living in places he would never wish his worst enemies to live. However, his life changed when a stranger came up to him with a proposition and, at the end of it, he can be a wizard again. Despite what he thought, things were not as they seemed. It turns out that a powerful god wants to enter Earth with the help of humans. And what could be worse? Julie Alvarez, the love of his life, is in danger. He hasn’t seen her in years, but he will do anything for her. But can he do that? Can he save the world from a dark future and keep his powers?

This is fantasy at its best. While I was reading it, I could feel that author Charles Lafave took his time to write this novel. He did not rush anything; he carefully constructed every single angle, scenario, and character before he put it all together. This just simply raises the quality of the novel and makes the readers’ experience even better. Not at any point did I want to close the book. I wanted to read to the end; even the goriest of scenes could not stop me. Perfect atmosphere, intense and invigorating. It gave me very Lord of the Rings kind of vibes, which is the biggest compliment I can give to the author.
