Growing Up with Bendie the Squirrel: I Can Make My Bed by Tony and Nicole Davis is an entertaining educational story about a young squirrel named Bendie. His mom has a special board called the I Can area that he visits to learn new lessons. There he finds a new chore to work on each week. On this occasion, he pulls out the paper that reads Make My Bed! That sounds easy enough, so he hurries off to try. But as with many new activities, making his bed for the first time isn't as easy as he'd first expected. Mother Squirrel comes to the rescue, and while walking him through the process, she teaches him a clever way to remember the steps on his own.
Growing Up with Bendie the Squirrel by Tony and Nicole Davis is a charming interactive read that teaches children new ways to accomplish everyday tasks by using an illustrated story. Teaching children the step-by-step process while Bendie the squirrel is learning at the same time as them is a great learning tool. This is a good book for parents to read to their children, but it is also easy enough for children to read and understand. It can be read again if they forget a step or even just for fun. It's a motivational story, and I enjoyed seeing how excited Bendie got when he realized that he could make his bed. Mother Squirrel has a wonderfully positive teaching style that includes helpful reminders for children so that they can learn to do things on their own.
