What if Christmas were no more? Well, it was almost canceled when Santa Claus woke up one day on the wrong side of the bed the day before Christmas Eve. In the beautiful, fun-filled children’s book, Grumpy Claus by Tracy Conti Potash, when Santa woke up, he fussed about everything and didn’t want to be a part of the Christmas festivities. He didn’t even want to eat his favorite treat of milk and cookies. The North Pole was in an uproar. Mrs. Claus knew she had to get into action and save Christmas, so she called a North Pole family meeting; everyone knew what they needed to do. As Santa rested, they worked hard to do things to let Santa know that he was loved and appreciated. On Christmas Eve, as he awakened, he got out of the right side of the bed. It put a feather in his cap when he saw all of the devotion and gratitude from the North Pole family. Santa was ready to start the day, and everyone knew this because he ate his favorite treat, milk and cookies.
Grumpy Claus by Tracy Conti Potash is a wonderful children’s book that any child would love, especially if their favorite holiday is Christmas and seeing Santa Claus every year. The author was inspired to create this lovely piece when she watched a young child in line to see Santa; this sparked an idea. Christmas is the time of year that children can’t wait to tell Santa Claus about how good they were throughout the year, so that they can get things from their wishlist. One thing that should stand out to the young reader is that it is important to not only get a good night's sleep but also show others that you appreciate them.
