Treat yourself to an action-packed rollercoaster of a ride with Kendall Roberts's Gunslingers. Raised by his aunt and uncle, Will Covington's simple life at their family farm turns upside down when Governor Alaister Hogg's dreaded agents burn down their home, murdering his adopted parents and abducting his cousin, Kalirose. Will barely escapes with his life and now, with his other cousin, Finn, finds himself under the tutelage of former Territory Ranger David McPhail, who fans the raging storm of revenge brewing inside Will's heart. After rescuing Janie De Casas, a fiery young woman charged with patricide, the little group goes through town after town, robbing and destroying Hogg's assets one by one, becoming infamous outlaws with a target behind their backs. But everything has a cost. What price is Will willing to pay to quench his thirst for vengeance?
Full of action, romance, and heartbreak, Gunslingers is a riveting ode to old-school westerns featuring outlaws, corrupt lawmen, and the untamable terrain of the wild west. Author Kendall Roberts knocks it out of the park with his debut novel, weaving a gripping tale of revenge filled with twists and turns you never see coming. Each of our main heroes has a tragic backstory, and their traumatic pasts bind them together in their quest to exact vengeance. Every character has their own agency and distinct motives that drive their actions. I particularly enjoyed the different dynamics in Will's relationships with Finn, Janie, and McPhail. Overall, a thoroughly entertaining novel that I will gladly recommend.
